Bottled water gets thumbs down in Australian town

In a rare case and possibly one of the first kinds in the world, citizens of Bundanoon have voted to ban the sale of bottled water. Bottled water was encouraged as a healthy alternative to sugary drinks in the eighties but now it is being dubbed as environmental menace as it not only requires energy for production and transportation but also takes up space in landfills.

The same cannot be said about developing nations which fail to even meet the standards of tap water being given to citizens in developed countries.
